Have you ever abseiled down a tourist-friendly karst cave like true cavers?

This unique adventure is only offered to visitors to tourist caves by Županova jama. Once a year, when we celebrate Cave Day, we open the so-called Old Entrance, the abyss through which the cave was discovered in 1926!

We invite you to an adrenaline-pumping experience as part of the Županova jama Centennial Festival on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The experience includes:

- Abseiling down a rope through the entrance abyss into the heart of the tourist part of Županova jama. It is facilitated by experienced members of the Novo mesto Caving Club.

- Return to the surface through the Silver Hall and Ledenica.

It takes a few minutes for each visitor to descend safely. To ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible, please arrive at the ticket office at the kiosk in front of the entrance to Županova jama at least half an hour before your scheduled time with your ticket, where you will be directed to the descent point. Please also stick to the time interval for which you purchased your ticket.

Since we are celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the discovery of Županova jama, there will also be a rich additional program of the Festival.

Every full hour, there will be a guided tour through the seven halls of Županova jama, which you will explore, learn something about the formation of the karst underground, see various stalactites up close, and meet bats.

On the surface in front of the cave, you will indulge in a wide range of experiences: you will try your hand at archery and medieval board games, learn various skills and tricks that will be shown to you by scouts and campers, create in the art and karst workshop, or treat yourself to face painting.

At 2 pm, the adrenaline activities will be briefly interrupted - a cultural program on the platform in front of the entrance will take us through the discovery and maintenance of the cave with stories, complemented by a performance by the Grosuplje Mihael Band.

Food and drinks will also be provided at the venue.
