May 31st, IVA NOVA, the best ethno-punk band from Russia, is coming to Klub KGB!

IVA NOVA is a fierce and virtuosic all-female band from St. Petersburg, blending melodic ethno, raw folk, and rough-edged punk rock since 2002. Their live shows? Pure electricity.

I first caught IVA NOVA by accident at a huge festival in Moscow – and couldn’t walk away. I stood there for an hour, grinning from ear to ear, watching four wild witches do unbelievable things with an accordion, guitars, drums, and their own voices – singing in Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, and Georgian.

Don’t expect cheesy folklore or drunken beer-folk punk. Armed with washboards, corrugated hoses, whistles, effects pedals, and jaw-dropping vocals IVA NOVA conjures something raw, melodic and wild – true punk-ethno. The kind of Slavic folk that makes you laugh until you cry, dance until you're breathless, and slip into a ritual trance.

This will be their final show after two months of touring across Europe. I’ll be there for sure – and I invite you to join us: let’s listen, dance, and sing together!
